Expiry Scanner
Track expiry dates for the products in your home or office by scanning a barcode or snapping a photo of the label — Expiry Scanner reads the date for you and reminds you before it’s too late.
What it does
- Scan a barcode to look up a product automatically, or take a photo of the label and let on-device text recognition (OCR) read the expiry date for you.
- Organize products into groups (e.g. Home, Office) and categories (e.g. Food, Medicine) so your list stays easy to browse.
- Get reminded before something expires — schedule a local notification a chosen number of days ahead of the expiry date.
- Works without an account. There’s no sign-up — your product list lives on your device.
How to use it
- Open the app and tap the scan button.
- Point your camera at a barcode, or capture/select a photo of the product label showing the expiry date.
- Confirm or edit the detected product name, expiry date, and barcode.
- Choose a group and category for the product, then save it.
- Optionally set a reminder — you’ll get a notification a set number of days before the product expires.
- Manage your list any time: edit, move between groups/categories, or delete products you’ve used up.
Why it’s useful
Whether you’re managing a home pantry, a medicine cabinet, or office supplies, Expiry Scanner helps you reduce waste and avoid using expired products — all handled quickly with your camera, without manual data entry.
Privacy
Expiry Scanner stores your product data locally on your device. Scanned barcodes are looked up against the open Open Food Facts database, and the app shows ads via Google AdMob. See our full Privacy Policy for details on what’s collected and how it’s used.
